Quick demonstration of how to photograph coarse-textured subjects in product picture taking.
This is recorded answer to one of our Photography Forum submissions (Nike shoes), and I think it is good to highlight IT here as an object lesson which will work many other areas of product photography.
I have seen cases where photographers expend soft light on textured subjects and end raised acquiring a plain and apartment repute the final image.
Here are just about suggestions you want to espouse to avoid that plain look:
If the subject does not have a considerable number of glossy surfaces, start with 1-3 touch lights illuminating it from different directions. Do non start with softboxes!
Aim lights on a penetrative angle to the subject: 20-30 degrees would exist a good point to starting time.
Add reflectors, diffusers Beaver State use softboxes only if the photo result is too contrasted and has besides many throwaway dark areas. To soften the look, I would suggest starting by placing white reflectors approximately your depicted object while still victimization spot lights.
