Recently, the folks over at Badass Digest (World Health Organization comes up with these publication names, anyway?) highlighted something to set Trekkers debating anew:

The Asterisk TREK Movies, As Ranked Aside Maven TREK Con-Goers

"This weekend I was in Las Vegas for the yearly Creation Star Trek convention; I'll have more to say about that in a longer article, simply first I wanted to share with you one of the highlights of my actuate: the ordering of Star Trek movies from best to pip.

A lot of the panels at this con are bad tedious, but Jordan Hoffman's One Trek Mind Live panels are joys, where Dustin Hoffman gets the fans involved in a turn over more or less about aspect of the Trek universe. The last thing I did in Vegas was attend the panel where Jordan and a hundred Trek fans – many in costume – argued about the proper list order of all the Trek films."

Well, as a longtime Star Trek fan (I saw the original program first-run every bit a 12 class-old), I'm pretty opinionated about the films based upon the 60s TV series and the latter The Future Generation line that engulfed just about of my full-grown life. First off, get me say, I'm pretty rhapsodic that those at the convention placed Galaxy Quest in amongst this canon.

Superb, genuinely, and IT made the list achieve my favorite number, 13.

Second, at that place are those on the convention's list I leave cordially agree with, and close to I testament oppose with the very core of my being. Get's buzz off this exit:

  1. Champion Trek II: The Wrath of Khan [Con #1] – not solely the best, but the one movie that really saved the entire film franchise for Preponderating; needless to say, the studio owes Nicholas Meyer big time for this and the next film, and is the most successful Star Trek filmmaker, banish none.
  2. Virtuoso Trek VI: The Undetected Country [Con #3] – Likely the one film that has garnered more praise and risen in ranking over the years among Star Trek fans. And Charles Frederick Worth every accolade, too. Might accept been the record-breaking send-off for this crew, money box somebody at Predominate came leading with Generations.
  3. Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home [Con game #4] – This was the capper for the trilogy that began with Wrath of Khan, brought home nicely by Leonard Nimoy. Perhaps the most fun (on a comedy scale) in the entire picture series.
  4. Galaxy Quest [Con #7] – You get into't rich person to be familiar with Star Trek to enjoy this movie. That said, if you bash, it's even more fun as a spoof and in its brilliance and appreciation of the Star Trek series, characters, actors.
  5. Star Trek: The Picture* [Con #9] – This separates the older and jr. generations of ST fans. The States oldsters cling to information technology for its sci-fi roots, and bringing back the original crew, especially if observance Henry Martyn Robert Smart's director cut*.
  6. Star Trek Tierce: The Lookup For Spock [Bunko #5] – Really, the early odd identification number Star Trek films aren't bad at all, at the least until you nettle #5, but we'll cover that further down. This may get the best payoff in its finish, too.
  7. Star Trek: First Contact [ Con #2] – Convention-goers had this fashio too high in their ranking, but I think it was still the outdo ST:TNG film, period. John Kenneth Muir's solid criticisms aside, this was Fraker's highpoint.
  8. Star Trek (2009) [Con #6] – I had elevated hopes for this, and largely (its mash-up tendencies, aside) I enjoyed Abram's ride. Much for seeing this crew and send back on the big screen out than anything else, though.
  9. Wi Trek Generations [Con #8] – Not the best start for The Next Generation crew on celluloid, just you can do a HELL of a great deal worse (see slots 10 – 13); it was besides good to have Capt Kirk back…for awhile, at to the lowest degree.
  10. Sensation Trek Scourge [Jail bird #10] – Or, how to kill the intact ST:TNG segment of the franchise movies for good. No one…NO Extraordinary…is trying to get Blue jean-Luc Picard and bunch endorse for some other go. Move along, nothing to see here.
  11. Star Trek Into Darkness [Con game #13] – If I visualise another lens flare, or regurgitated plot point from earlier ST stories, I think I'm going to cough up up a Tribble. Quick person get Abrams off the Principal Trek serial publication. Oh, give him the chance to ruin another sci-fi serial, thanks much Lucas!
  12. Star Trek V: The Final Frontier [Rook #12] – This one gets a lot of heartache. My friend John the Divin Kenneth Muir appreciates it more than I, but had Predominant let Shatner do a director's cut like Henry M. Robert Wise, who knows what information technology could have been, bad as IT was. IT's still better than…
  13. Maven Trek Insurrection [Con #11] – A TV installment blown up to the big screen. Just think, if not for this, Star Trek Nemesis may not have killed ST:TNG off for good. They might have Army of the Righteou them try another…the fools. My friend Wish still defends this motion-picture show, and I admire him for that…I really do.

What would your ranking of these films atomic number 4?
